Hanwell Methodist Church
Composed and designed by Ray Garnett
Hanwell Methodist Church supports a number of organisations that are directly linked to the Church Family. The Guides is one such group.
The Guides are aged between 10 and 14 years. At their Monday meetings, as well as on outings and events, members can partake in the following types of activities:
partake in craft activities and cooking,
learn about other countries, cultures and religions,
sleepovers and pampering nights,
swimming and bowling trips,
camping in tents and cooking on wood fires,
zip-wire, climbing, abseiling, archery, high ropes, kayaking and much more.
Being a Guide encourages girls to develop by undertaking challenges and pushing the boundaries of their experience. Guides plan and run their own activities with their Patrols, as well as working towards ‘Go for Its’, Guide interest badges, Challenge badges and the Baden-Powell Challenge Award.
The Guides are also usually involved in the Family and Church Parade services held on the first Sunday of each month or on special occasions.
If you want to know more then contact one of our Church Stewards who will put you in touch with the relevant Leader or turn up to one of their meetings on a Monday evening. Remember that the group only meets in school term times.
A Guide has to make
After their pre-promise initiation, to become a formal member of the pack, a Guide has to make a promise - “I will do my best, to love my God, to serve the Queen and my country, to help other people and to the keep the Guide law.”

The Guides normally meet on a Monday evening from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Main Hall of the Church.
